the future of PCF

Product carbon footprints made fast

Automations, calculations, and data combined to cut the PCF calculation process from months to minutes—with reliable, audit-ready results.

Transform your data into audit-ready product carbon footprints

PCF API Climatiq

Full life cycle PCFs

Deliver PCFs across the life cycle—up to cradle-to-grave, including automated end-of-life calculations.

Deliver at scale

When PCFs take minutes, not months, manufacturers can calculate CO2e for an entire product range.

Reliable methodology

Calculations use ISO-aligned methods and high-quality emission factors, with a full audit trail.

Why are PCFs important?

Customer demands

  • Large companies with CSRD and SBTi goals for scope 3 reporting are making PCFs a key requirement for their supply chain through their RFPs. This creates a huge business risk for suppliers who don't provide them—and a huge opportunity for the ones who do.

Regulatory requirements

  • Digital Product Passports (DPP) will require product-level emissions for certain products imported into the EU from early 2027. Many manufacturers will have to calculate a huge amount of complex PCFs to be compliant.

Key industries for PCF delivery include

Machinery

Batteries

Electronics

Automotive

Chemicals

Consumer goods

Proven at scale

Climatiq already supports PCF solutions for Celonis, helping their global clients calculate PCFs across complex enterprise-scale global supply chains.

Trustworthy data

Where speed meets accuracy

The PCF API uses methodologies compliant with GHG Protocol and ISO 14067, and we aim to be fully ISO certified in early 2026.

These calculations use data from vetted sources, and provide full audit visibility of the emission factors used.

That means you can deliver reliable PCFs at scale to support both your business goals and sustainability commitments.

Frequently asked questions
Does Climatiq hold security certifications (e.g. ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR)?

Yes — Climatiq is certified under ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR. Full details are available at trust.climatiq.io.

How does the API perform at scale — can it handle calculations across a large product catalogue?

The PCF API is proven at enterprise scale, supporting platforms such as Celonis in delivering PCFs across complex, multi-tier global supply chains.

Does every calculation include an audit trail?

Yes — every API response includes a source trail documenting the methodology and emission factors used.

What impact categories are included in the PCF calculations?

PCF Studio calculates emissions expressed in CO2e, accounting for GWP100. Currently, no other environmental impacts are covered, but this may come in the future.

What emission factor databases does the API draw from, and can I use my own primary data?

PCF API draws from Climatiq’s database containing hundreds of vetted datasets, including sources such as Agribalyse, Circular Ecology, OEKOBAUDAT, Plastics Europe and more. Premium data sources including ecoinvent, Carbon Minds and Sustamize can also be added on a per-customer or overall basis.

Users will soon also be able to incorporate their own supplier-specific data where available.

Which standards does the PCF API comply with?

PCF APIcalculations are aligned with, and currently in the certification process for GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard and ISO 14067. We are currently in the ISO 14067 certification process and expect to complete this in Q2. and the GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard. Transport emissions are calculated using Climatiq’s GLEC-accredited freight calculation engine, and energy estimates are already certified according toby ISO 14067.

PCF API provides data quality indicators (DQIs) in accordance with the PACT framework. All results come with a full audit trail for transparency.

What input data does the API require?

The API requires a bill of materials (BoM) for the product being calculated, along with manufacturing energy consumption and logistics data where available. Component names can be submitted in any language, and our AI-powered Autopilot feature maps them automatically to the appropriate emission factors.

How are system boundaries defined and managed?

The API supports both cradle-to-gate and cradle-to-grave calculations, including automated end-of-life calculations.

Is the PCF API currently in general availability, or is it still in preview?

The PCF API is currently in preview. We need the ability to iterate quickly on preview versions, so we offer fewer guarantees of stability. Read more about API versioning at Climatiq here.

Is there API documentation and example code available to get started?

Yes — full API documentation and reference examples are available at climatiq.io/docs/api-reference/pcf.

How can I integrate the PCF API into my platform?

The API is a standard REST API and can be integrated with any programming language. Climatiq provides full API documentation, code examples, and guides to help development teams get started quickly: climatiq.io/docs/api-reference/pcf

What is the Climatiq PCF API and who is it for?

The PCF API enables SaaS platforms and ESG solution providers to embed automated product carbon footprint calculations directly into their products. It is designed for development teams who need to deliver PCF functionality quickly and at scale by handling the complex calculation logic and compliance of PCFs.
